The PKU Analytics Lab for Global Risk Politics and the International Relations Data and Computing Lab at Tsinghua University jointly launched the research initiative named “Pathway to Empirical Game-Theoretic Analysis.” They also collaborated in organizing relevant research projects and academic exchanges. The initiative can be summarized as a research endeavor to construct social science theories based on rigorous logical reasoning of game theory. It also involves informing research designs with game-theoretic analysis for the purpose of fostering integration of theory and empirics.
Research and academic exchanges revolve around three main aspects:
1). Principles and methods of game-theoretic modeling as well as their applications to theories that cannot be formalized via game theory.
2). Guidance on improving the credibility of empirical research with theory.
3). Creative synthesis and development of theory and empirics.
